According to preliminary statistics of the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPSA), in April 2025, Vietnam exported 2,436 tons of star anise and earned more than 9.7 million USD, a sharp increase of 65.8% in volume and 90.2% in value. Prosi Thang Long, Tuan Minh and Lam Son Ha Spices are the three largest exporters of star anise.
India is continuously pursuing Vietnamese star anise, making it the largest market (77% share) after Vietnam exported 5,931 tons valued at $21.9 million through April 2025. This high demand is fueled by India's substantial needs in the spice, traditional medicine, and global pharmaceutical sectors, leading to recommendations for Vietnam to enhance deep processing and branding.
